Director Ezhil, who made films like Thullatha Manum Thullam and Poovellam Un Vasam, Manam Kothi Paravai, in his second innings settled down to do comical films. In the list is Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran. Produced and enacted by Vishnu Vishal. It is a loud and colourful comical comedy fare, thanks to Soori and Robo Shankar’s efforts. Nikki Galrani plays the female lead. Soori, Aadukalam Naren, Robo Shankar, Ravimaria, Sonia, Vaiyapuri and Rajendran are also in the cast. Besides directing, Ezhil has penned the story, screenplay and dialogues for the movie. Shakthi has handled the cinematography while Ananda Lingakumar takes care of the film’s editing. And D Imman scores the music. Vishnu Vishal plays Murugan and he is a sidekick to Jacket (Robo Shankar), a tailor- turned-MLA. Things get out of hand when Jacket must hand over a Rs 10 lakh bribe to the director general of police to get Archana (Niki Garlani) a job in the department. There is Pushpa Purushan (Soori) who runs into trouble and and he wants the MLA to help him. Meanwhile, the MLA slips into a coma after a road accident, and is key to a Minister’s secret bounty of Rs 500 crores. More chaos continues as Murugan, Archana and Pushpa Puruishan get entangled with a bunch of people trying to get their hands on the wealth. Vishnu is energetic and unlike his earlier movies he gets an opportunity to even dance and try his hands at humour. Niki Garlani is convincing, while Soori and Robo Shankar with their one-liners manages to tickle your funny bone. Ravi Maria and Naren give their best. Music by Sathya is peppy and foot-tapping. There are some logical lapses and speed-breakers, yet, VVV makes an interesting watch.
