Tamil film producer GR today threatened to file complaint against veteran lyricist-composer Gangai Amaran and a Censor official for denying screening certificate for his movie.
GR, said. ‘We produced a film titled Kadhali Kanavillai in Tamil and it was remade simultaneously in Kannada as Bheeshma’.
Starring Kishore in both languages, we managed to get Censor certificate for the film in Karnataka. However when we applied for the same in Chennai for Tamil version, a Censor official said it was a dubbed film. Eventually we had to appeal to the revision committee.’
GR says, ‘Following revision committee’s instructions, lyricist-director Gangai Amaran came to watch the movie and without even watching the entire movie, reiterated that it was a dubbed film. Even though we said we would produce all documents, the officials rejected our claim and were keen on giving only a dubbed movie certificate’.
Having put to greater hardship and mental agony, I will be filing complaint against them, he added.
