Chandi Veeran – Review

Sargunam’s Chandi Veeran is a rural tale with the protagonist striving hard to protect water body. The movie carries a larger theme laced with an emotional drama.

The need to conserve water is what the filmmaker wants to conveys. He has packaged it with commercial elements like comedy and romance. But at times go preachy.

Produced by Bala’s B Studios, the movie stars Atharvaa and Anandhi in the lead roles. Malayalam actor Lal plays the baddie.

Does the movie satisfy the appetite of the movie-goers? Answer is yes to a major extent thanks to Atharvaa’s good show.

He plays Paari (Atharvaa) a youngster who returns to his native village from Singapore. He has a flashback. He lost his father in a feud between the neighbouring village. A bloody battle is fought over sharing of water from a lake between two villages.

Paari is fun-loving and upright guy. He strives to end the feud between two villages and take up his father’s responsibility of getting due share of water. He comes across Thamarai (Anandhoi), daughter of Lal.

Interestingly Lal own the lake and is against giving water to Paari’s village. The rest is all but how Paari manages to overcome all challenge and ends up marrying Thamarai and also get water.

Atharvaa does it well. His body language and looks are tailor made for the character. Equally good is Anandhi. The ‘Kayal’ actress has done her part well in a deglamourised role. Lal is menacing as Anandhi’s father.

Arunagiri’s music is good while Sabesh Murali’s background score adds strength.

The movie loses steam as it progresses.
