Varalaxmi Sarathkumar who was to play a key role in the Malayalam remake of the movie Appa, has reportedly walked out.
The actress was part of Aakasha Mittayaee, that stars actor Jaayaram in the lead.
Varalaxmi took to Twitter to state the reason behind her walkout. She wrote, ‘Thnk u to Samuthirakani sir n Jayaram sir for hvng supported my decision.. can’t work wid male chauvinists n mannerless prods..#respectwomen.’
Sources say the film’s producers turned out to be male chauvinists and lacked manners. This has prompted the actress to walk out.
The Malayalam version of the movie is to be directed by Samuthirakani himself. This marks his debut in Mollywood. The shoot for it began recently.
Appa was produced by Samuthirakani himself in association with Etcetera Entertainments, the movie features him in the role of a father who adores and admires his son.
Thambi Ramiah, Vinodhini, Preethi, Namo Narayanan, Vela Ramamurthy, Vignesh and Raghav are also in the cast. Appa is about parenting and the plight of children in hostels.
It may be recalled that Varalaxmi is also part of Nibunan, Ammayi, Sathya and Vikram Vedha.
