Away from boy meets girl and falling in love and friends coming together for no reason themes in Tamil cinema, comes Kirumi. It is a movie that throws light on the system. The corruption in police department and the lives of police informers are well brought-out. Direced by Anucharan, Kirumi is a superbly crafted movie with thrills and never-before scenes in Tamil cinema. It is an engaging entertainer and audience will love every scene that unfolds with a surprise. It is not an one-man’s saviour act nor a action-packed revenge drama. But close to reality film. The high point of the movie is script and screenplay by Manikandan, who directed critically-acclaimed Kaaka Muttai. Kathir (Kathir) is typical north Chennai youth, who wants to lead a live a happy life. He spends all his time with friends though he is married to Anitha (Reshmi Menon) and the couple have a child. He rarely goes home. Anitha is the bread inner for the family. Meanwhile at one stage impressed by his neighbour Prabhakar (Charlie), a police informer, Kathir wants to take up the job. He eventually becomes one and gets the trust of local inspector of police Soundarapandian (David). But he becomes a victim in the tussle between Soundarapandian and Inspector Madhiarasu (Marimuthu). What happens in their lives form the rest. Kathir does his act well and is good at emotional scenes. Reshmi has a meaty role to do while David and Thennavan deserve appreciation. Kirumi is a close to reality film that manages a watch. Kirumi – This germ is gem.
