Legends mourn Balamuralikrishna’s death

Carnatic musician M Balamuralikrishna (86) passed away at his residence in Chennai on Tuesday.

The legend was honored by Indian Government with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He is also the recipient of Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Government in 2005.

With over 400 songs sung in Telugu, Sanskrit, Kannada and Tamil in his kitty, Balamuralikrishna started singing at the age of six. He has untill now completed 25000 shows across the world.

He was a master of Carnatic and Hindustani vocal music and played musical instruments like the viola, the violin and the mridangam.

Film personalities including Kamal Haasan visited his house to pay homage. Several musicians and actors from all over India paid their respects to him via Twitter and other social media platforms.
