Vaalu – Review

Finally after a three year’s delay comes STR starrer Vaalu. There was a huge buzz since STR fans eagerly awaited its release. After facing so many legal hurdles and financial travails, finally out is Vaalu. While all these managed to bring opening crowd, the biggest question is whether the movie lives up to expectations and hype? Unfortunately partially yes would be the reply. Directed by debutant Vijay Chander, the movie stars STR, Hansika in lead roles. And Santhanam plays an equally important role. Aadukalam Naren is also in the cast. The movie is a commercial package that may satiate STR’s fans’ needs. But an everage venture with lengthy dialogues by STR and some outdated comedy mars the show. There is also a general feeling that the Iove portions and sentiment scenes fails to engage audience. Thankfully Thaman’s music, Suresh’s editing and Sakthi’s cinematography manages to give the pep. Sharp (STR) is a jobless youth. His life is his friend Santhanam. Unfortunately he is chided by all. At one stage he comes across Priya (Hansika) and its romance straightaway for him. He wants to woo her but fails as her marriage is already fixed with her uncle who is a thug. Sharp crosses sword with him. What happens then is the rest. STR is cool and does his job well. Hansiks is bubbly and cute, while santhanam’s one-liners are catchy. But a deja vu storyline is a disappointment. Vaalu is neither here nor there. Vaalu – Curate’s egg
