The Madras High Court today exempted Vadivelu from appearing before a court in Namakkal on defamation case filed against him. Also a stay has been ordered on hearing of the case in Namakkal court.
A court in Namakkal ordered Vadivelu to appear before it on 27 November in connection with his remarks about Nadigar Sangam building recently. A petition was filed by Namakkal Drama Artists Association president Rajendran before Judicial Magistrate No1 S Mohanambal recently. He alleged that Vadivelu during a press conference in Madurai on 8 October said that Nadigar Sangam had gone missing and after winning the elections they would trace it.
However Vadivelu filed a petition with the Madras High Court to exempt him from appearing in person in the case. Hearing the plea, Justice R Subiah ordered stay in the proceedings and accepted his plea.
