The likes of Vishal, Karthi, Siddharth, Dhanush, RJ Balaji besides a host of Nadigar Sangam members have been on the streets literally ever since the city was marooned.
As soon as the rain stopped, the actors hit the streets. They immediately came up with Facebook pages and announcements on Twitter urging people to join the cause to save people ravagaed by floods.
While Vishal went swung into action in North Chennai which saw worst indundation, Karthi made it to the low-lying areas in South Chennai besides Ramapuram and Mudichur.
They organised to collect essentials including milk products, blankets, water bottles and food packets and started distributed them to various parts.
They managed to make Lady Andal School at Harrington Road in Chetpet the nodal point. They even co-ordinated with film industries in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh to raise assistance for flood relief.
Few trucks laden with relief items was flagged off in Cochin led by actor Munna reached Chennai.
Thanking Malayalam film industry for their gesture, Vishal said, ‘we will distribute the same to the need in and around Chennai’.
