Actress Amy Jackson’s tweet seeking to ban jallikattu seems to havelanded her on a sticky wicket. Condemning her, a pro Tamil outfit today said that they would hold protests against the actress and seek the producers of Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 to remove her from the cast.
The British-born actress who was part of several Tamil movies in the past including Shankar’s I, tweeted on Thursday seeking a ban on jallikattu.
She wrote, ‘#NoJallikattu : Actors, cricketers sign @PetaIndia’s plea against bullfights http://bit.ly/1Qryzeq Please show your support too!’.
Apparently angered at her tweet, Veera Lakshmi, convenor of Tamizhar Munnetra Padai, in a press release, said Jallikattu is part of Tamil tradition and culture.
It is disheartening to see an actress who is making money acting in Tamil cinema making such statements against out tradition.’
‘Our association would hold protest in front of 2.0 shooting spot seeking the producers to remove her from the movie’, she added.
