Cho passes away

It was a sad day for Kollywood as veteran journalist, former Rajya Sabha member and political commentator Cho Ramaswamy (82) died today following illness. The actor who was suffering from illness breathed his last at a private hospital in the early hours.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Minister O Pannserselvam, Leader of opposition M K Stalin, actor Rajinikanth, former Union Minister M K Alagiri and people from various walks of life condoled the demise of Ramaswamy.

Cho is survived by his wife, son and daughter. The founder-editor of Thuqlaq magazine, Cho was looked upto by everyone. He had acted in many movies and has shared the screen with MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.

Cho is a man of many talents. He has been an actor, comedian, character actor, editor, playwright and dialogue writer, film director and lawyer.

In his condolence, Modi tweeted, ‘Cho Ramaswamy was a multidimensional personality, towering intellectual, great nationalist & fearless voice who was respected and admired’.

He wrote, ‘Above all, Cho Ramaswamy was a dear friend. I have been to his annual readers meeting which were an unprecedented editor reader interface’.

Cho Ramaswamy was insightful, frank & brilliant. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family & countless readers of Thuglak, he wrote.
