Ajith, who landed in the city today went directly from the airport to pay his last respects to late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The actor flew down from Bulgaria in the wee hours of today.
Accompanied by his wife Shalini, the couple visited the meorial and offered their last respects.
Sources say Ajith could not get a flight to Chennai in the last minute and had to drive to Romania to get a flight.
Prior to his arrival, the actor sent a condolence message, which read, ‘I express my deepest condolences to my fellow citizens of Tamil Nadu and to the cadres of AIADMK on the demise of our beloved leader Honourable Dr.Puratchi Thalaivi Amma. She had fought many battles and stood tall among the leaders of our times. This news comes as a shock to me as we were praying for and hopeful of her speedy recovery. May her soul rest in peace. I pray to the almighty to give us the strength during this time of grief.’
Ajith then later went to pay his respects to the mortal remains of actor, political analyst and journalist Cho Ramaswamy, who passed away today morning. The actor is said to be returning to Bulgaria to complete his upcoming movie.
