Darling 2 – Review

Most horror movies that hit the screens seem to lose its spookiness. The latest to join bandwagon in this trend is Darling 2. Opening to mixed response, Darling 2 does not match its prequel. A horror comedy the movie stars Kalaiyarasan as Arvind, Rameez Raja as Krishna, Maya as Ayesha, Kaali Venkat as Rafi, Hari as Balaji, Arjunan as Shankar and Ramdoss as Valparai Varadhan. Said to be a real life incidents that occurred in director Sathish Chandrasekaran’s life, the movie does not match the said reality. With Radhan’s music, Vijay Karthik Kannan’s cinematography and Madan’s editing, this horror flick was produced by KE Gnanavel Raja. The film is about the love story of Ayesha, who is possessed. Told in flashback, the movie is about Ayesha’s love and how it concern a group of friends, who encounter her during a fun-filled trip to Valparai. Incidentally one of them commits suicide and how the rest of the story lays out forms the crux. Maya has managed her role pretty well. Ramdoss and Kaali Venkat make the comedy rolling. The movie is high on humour, loop holes in the storyline seem to make you lose track of the story. The pace at which each scene opens is pretty good but slows down in the second half. The horror elements are pretty weak in some places and predictable. May be too much influence in the same genre could be the reason for this backlash. Although equipped with a good cast and a fairly decent story line, eerie elements is missed in Darling 2.
