Tharkappu – Review

After a brief exile comes Sakthi as hero again. He is back in a big way now. Guess what? He plays a police officer, a dream role for any hero in Tamil cinema. Interestigly Tharkappu has a different narration. They are more layered and the story converge at one point. The action thriller is directed by RP Ravi. He has chosen to drive home the point that best offence is defence. Never fight it out or opt for violent ways. Respect all lives and treat them with courtesy. Sakthi has hit the gym hard and shaped his body and it is visible in every frame. The cast also includes Samuthirakani, Sathish Krishnan, Vatsan Chakravarthy, Vaishali Deepak, Amitha, Riyaz Khan, Ganesh Prasath among others. Sakthi along with his team of officers encounters a criminal (Riyaz Khan). But he makes everyone believe it was a shoot out betwene two gangs. Enters Samuthirakani, a Human Rights officer from Central Government, who investigates the same. Meanwhile there are couple of stories that revolve around a romantic youngster Sathish and Vatsan Chakravarthy. They have their share of joy. A series of events leads to a Human Rights officer Samuthirakani investigating the encounter. One fine day, Sakthi finds himself in a spot of bother. Meanwhile theirs Sathish and Vatsan finds themselves in the trouble. what happens then forms the rest. Music is by Faizal is good while Jones Anand captured the night scenes well. Produced by S Selvamuthu and Manjunath, Tharkappu has dealt in a serious issue. But the desrire for detailing has taken a toll on screenplay. The movie loses steam as it progresses.
