Actor-director-choreographer Prabhudeva and veteran playback singer P Suseela inaugurated Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru, annual music and dance festival organised by Lakshman Sruthi at Kamaraj Arangam in Chennai Friday.
A host of music and dance programmes will be held till 25 December.
Noted celebrities including actresses Anushka and Keerthy Suresh were also present on the occasion. Pancharatna Krithis were rendered by Carnatic vocalist P S Narayanasamy along with 100 vocalists.
As part of the flood relief measures, the event will have a tent put up to collect funds for the victims. Audience attending the renditions will be offered free bus services to routes such as Ennore and Avadi from 7.30 pm onwards.
Paying tributes to former President APJ Abdul Kalam, a wax statue of him has been erected at Kamarajar Arangam, the event’s venue. Eminent musicians will be performing at the music festival.
A food court at the venue is a major hit among the rasikas. It was inaugurated by veteran film personality K Bhagiyaraj. Noted chef Dhamu was also present on the occasion.
Ram and Lakshman of Lakshman Sruthi were also present on the occasion.
