The Madras High Court today dismissed a contempt of court case filed against veteran lyricist Vairamuthu after he tendered a written apology.
A petition of ‘contempt of court’ was filed against the lyricist by film financier S Mukanchand Bothra at the Madras High Court for having made remarks about the integrity of the judges among the public.
During the centenary celebrations of Justice Kailasam in Chennai November last, Vairamuthu is reported to have made comments on the judiciary.
The Madras High Court had sent a notice to him seeking reply.
When the case came up for hearing today, Judges R Sudhakar and P N Prakash dismissed the petition and said that in his reply Vairamuthu had tendered unconditional apology in case his statement was against the judicial system of the country.
