Come 1 July, Samuthirakani’s directorial Appa will see the light of the day.
He says, ‘Appa is about fathers and children. It is based on real-life incidents. The story is close to my heart and it took almost three years to write screenplay for the same’.
Thambi Ramiah, Vinodhini, Preethi, Namo Narayanan, Vela Ramamurthy, Vignesh and Raghav are also in the cast.
Says Samuthirakani, ‘The highlight of the movie is that it has music by Ilayaraja. When I approached him and said that there are no songs and that he needs to come up with emotional BGM, he looked up to me with surprise’.
‘However he came up with a theme song which had lyrics written by him. His music has made the movie bigger and better’.
Today the children live in a competitive world. Appa will discuss the need to encourage and motivate them. The story revolves around four different fathers and issues they face with their children’.
Samuthirkani, says, ‘After Appa, I am planning to direct a script written by my mentor K Balachander sir. It is a huge task and it demands hard work’.
