It was another feather to his cap as veteran playback singer and Carnatic vocalist KJ Yesudas was awarded with the second highest civilian honour in the country, Padma Vibhushan.
The singer said that he is happy for being chosen for the award.
Yesudas, who won the Padma Shri in 1975 and Padma Bhushan in 2002, said the award is a recognition of struggles he went through as a newcomer.
‘It is humbling, yes. It is also a stepping stone,’ he said.
Yesudas, who started his singing career in 1961 has recorded over 50,000 songs in varioous languages.
Meanwhile, legendary playback singer S P Balasubramaniam has heaped laurels on Yesudas.
