Veteran actor Sivakumar along with his sons Surya and Karthi honoured the State-toppers and deserving students who performed well despite their social challenges in tenth and plus two examinations by the Sivakumar Charitable Education Trust on Sunday.
On the occasion, they gave away Rs one lakh to Thai Tamil Thodakkapalli, an institution providing free education for students from economically backward family background and Rs two lakh to Vazhai, an organisation working towards the upliftment of first generation students.
25 students from various categories including school-toppers, visually challenged and those from economically backward family were honoured. The students were awarded Rs 10,00 each amounting Rs 2,50,000 of financial assistance.
Suriya pointed out that Agaram Foundation aims to cater to educational development of students who are at the bottom of our socio economic pyramid.
Actor Karthi, welcomed the gathering which was then followed by the prize distribution.
