M S Viswanathan, was given the title Mellisai Mannargal by thespian Sivaji Ganesan which was coined by poet Kannadasan. At a grand function, the title was conferred on both MSV and Viswanathan at a grand function in Triplicane.
Impressed by the splendid musical score by M S Viswanathan and Ramamoorthy, the duo of Kannadasan and Sivaji Ganesan gave the title to him.
MSV was known for his light music in film songs. At a time when Carnatic music was only dominating the scene, MSV came up with simple light music. It cast a charm on all.
