After the likes of Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi and Vai Moodi Pesavum, director Nalaji Mohan has opted for a local film with enough mass commercial elements. With Dhanush by his side, he has managed to weave a thara local on screen. The film has enough to sustain the interest of the front-benchers, though screenplay could have been more crisp. Dhanush has played his part exceedingly well. His body language, dialogue delivery and mannerism walks away with aplomb. as a local don Maari, he breezes pass the role. His costumes comes handy. Kajal Agarwal has limited scope but excels. But watch out for Vinod. He has done a splendid show, over shadowing Robo Shankar. Comical timing of him has elevated the mood. Vijay Yesudass as tough police officer has a longw ay to go. Considering this to be his first on screen, he just passes the muster. Music and background score by Anirudh adds pep to the proceedings. The story revolves around Maari (Dhanush), who is brought up in a slum. He has a passion for pigeons and rears them. He develops an interest to win in a pigeon race.. He feels pride in doing it. But needless troubles during the race turns him a don. All goes well untill enters Arjun Kumar, a police officer. He crosses sword with Maari. Maari is a good show for Dhanush fans. But for those who consider Dhanush a scene-stelaer, they are little tad disappointed.
