Kuttram 23 does seems a good comeback for actor Arun Vijay who did not have release in the last two years.
A medical crime thriller, it is directed by Arivazhagan of Eeram fame. Mahima plays Arun Vijay’s romantic interest. Vamsi Krishna, Vijayakumar, Abhinaya, Thambi Ramaiah have done supporting characters.
The movie begins with a twin murder – a priest and the wife of a leading TV channel’s CEO. Enters Vetri Maaran IPS (Arun Vijay) who is called to investigate the murders. A hardworking, intelligent and honest police officer, Vetri Maaran gets under the skin of the crimes.
He unravels that the mystery killings have a link with illegal medical practice happening in the city. He also finds out that these medical crime were occuring in the name of artificial insemination. The rest of the movie is about how he finds out the person behind these things.
One of the biggest advantage is the screenplay and dialogues. The lines have been done crisp and the crew does go to Arivazhagan for this.
Arun Vijay’s avatar as a cop has gone well with the audience. He has played a strong and suave cop. His body plays to his strength. His romantic scenes with Mahima too has come out well.
It is a bit overboard as the romance do not gel too well with the plot. The actress is bubbly and has done her bit to perfection.
Produced by Arun Vijay’s close friend Inder Kumar, it has music by Vishal Chandrasekar of Jil Jung Juk fame. The tracks have come out well and the BGM has added more intensity to the storyline.
Another cherry in the cake are the two villains Arvind Akash and Vamsi Krishna. They give a good fight to the screenplay.
Cinematography by Bhaskaran is worth mentioning. He has shown the movie in good light and colours. The action scenes are well choreographed.
Kuttram 23 is technically also a sound film and rides high on Arun Vijay.
