After two years in the making Engitta Modhathey is finally here in screens. The movie takes its inspiration from a Rajinikanth film and guess what the plot is equally challenging.
Engitta Modhathey is set in the ’80s, and is based on a fan club war between Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan fans.
Written and directed by Ramu Chellappa, it features Natty, Rajaj, Parvathy Nair and Sanchita Shetty in key roles. It is co-produced by Eros International with RV Films.
The movie is based in Tirunelveli and revolves around Natty and Rajaji, who are Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan fans respectively. When each time an actor’s movie is released, fans cut-outs come out. Natty and Rajaji play the role of artists who paint cutouts for a living.
Although in the same profession they remain friends. A political problem break their friendship in the name of idolised heroes and what happens next is the rest of the film.
Natarajan Subramanian, better known as Natty, has evolved into a mature actor. His life from a cinematographer to a performing artiste has showed well in the flick. He plays Rajinikanth fans.
Rajaj plays Kamalhaasan fan, perfectly fulfilled the character of the artist. His chacater is struggling between friendship and family. He also gains a good name in this film.
Sanchita Shetty romances Natty in the film, Parvathy Nair plays Rajaji’s love interest. Sanchita does a decent job playing a deglam role. Radha Ravi’s role as a politician is the cherry in the cake.
Music by Natarajan Sankaran of Moodar Koodam and Kappal fame is good. His back ground score is also commendable.
The best aspect of the movie is the properties. Each set property has been taken good care to represent the time the film was made in.
Everyone’s hard work in the film is remarkable.
