A visual extravaganza with enough computer graphics that ends up providing an engaging fare is Puli. With Vijay at his best, the movie provides enough elements to keep the audience glued to their seats. A typical Chimbudevan’s script with right mass commercial elements for Vijay, Puli ends a decent watch. Three cheers to the cast and crew for pulling it off well. A mass hero playing to the gallery is amazing. Vijay fits the role well. he is the flesh and blood of the movie. A period film with enough action-packed sequences and scenes that entertain children is the highlight of the movie. Credit should go to producers Shibu Thameens and PT Selvakumar, who produced the movie on a lavish budget. A strong techinical crew that comprises Natty Subramaniam behind the camera and editing by A Sreekar Prasad adds strength to the content. The movie is set in a village which is ruled by the greedy and evil Vedhalam kingdom led by its magician queen (Queen) guided by her Minister (Sudheep). Marudheeran (Vijay) is a brave young man in the village is compelled to fight the Vedhalam kingdom after his beloved Pavazha Malli (Sruthi) is kidnapped and his father Prabhu killed. After an adevntiourous journey, Marudheeran ends up at Vedhalam kingdom palace where thanks to Sridevi’s daughter and price (Hansika). Impressed with Marudheeran’s bravado, she loves him. Marudheeran has other plans. He now takes on the queen and her minister and how ends up on the winning side forms the story. Vijay is cool and bubbly while Sruthi and Hansika are good with limited scenes. Sridevi is the highlight and Sudheep with his body language impresseds. The lengthy first half and average music by Devi Sr Prasdad is a minus. But an interesting story and catchy sequence of events make it a good watch, especially for kids.
