Veteran actress Jyothilakshmi passed away late last night at her residence in Chennai. She was 66.
She was not keeping well for some time and was undergoing treatment for blood cancer.
The actress has done over 400 films in various roles and she is known for her dancing skills. She has worked with the likes of MGR, Jayalalithaa and N T Ramarao.
She had worked with over four generation of actors.
Jyothi Lakshmi made her debut in the MGR film Periya Idathu Penn in the year 1963 and followed it up soon as the heroine in the Nagesh and Muthuraman starrer Poovum Pottum in 1968.
She is fondly remembered for making a lasting impression with her dance skills over the years.
In recent times, she danced to the song ‘Gaana Karunkuyile’ from the film Sethu starring ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram. The song eventually went on to become a tremendous hit.
Prominent film personalities thronged her residence at T Nagar and paid their floral tributes.
