Marriages are not made in heaven, and it depends on the individual to either make it a bliss or grief. This is the idea behind Nelson’s Oru Naal Koothu. For a movie that is been directed by a debutante, the output is quite strong. Starring Attakathi Dinesh, Mia George, Nivetha Pethuraj, Rithwika, Karunakaran, Bala Saravanan and Ramesh Thilak, the movie talks about how each one takes marriage and break up. The story is about how marriage gets stressful for these people. How they run from it or embrace it forms the crux of the Oru Naal Koothu. Mia George’s father postpones her wedding plans. Riythvika is a radio jockey whose marriage gets delayed as she not able to get the right partner. Nivetha Pethuraj is caught between her love and family. Dinesh plays Nivetha’s love interest. The drama and marriage commotion that revolves around these people makes up the movie. This concept is expressed in a humour way, kudos to the director for the effort. Showing three different perspectives of marriage is a small platform that brings to light the bigger perspective, that is our society. Told in a light-hearted manner, the scenes have been equaly supported by the artistes and the director’s touch. Music by Justin Prabhakaran seems to be cake walk for the composer. His BGM too has added more flavour to the characters and the scenes. Adiyae Azhagae song surely will list in the top 2016. The characters seem to gel well. Attakathi Dinesh, who appears as an IT guy is still unbelievable. The complete makeover has not completely shed his rural look from his appearance. Nivetha Pethuraj is a class. She has done her part completely well. Her romance with Dinesh seem to realistic. Riythvika as a radio jockey seem shy in the beginning and slowly picks up towards the climax. Mia George is a goddess as ever. Balasaravana, Karunakaran, Ramesh Thilak fulfill their characters with natural acting. In short Oru Naal Koothu is all about the typical hungama that surrounds the modern-day weddings with more importance given to women.
