Rejecting the National award for best background score in Tharai Thappatai , Ilayaraja skipped the award ceremony in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Sources say that Ilayaraja is annoyed at not being considered for best music composer (which has gone to Malayalam music director Jayachandran) and rather conferred for best background music category alone.
Ilayaraja was chosen for best BGM award for Thara Thappatai.
Samuthirakani won for best supporting actor and late T E Kishore for eiting for Visaranai.
Rithika Singh was adjudged the best actress Jury award.
