Maanagaram Review & Rating

There are not many hyperlink cinema in Kollywood and Maanagaram has proved itself worthy in this genera.

It deals with the different perspectives of people coming from different background.

A blend of four separate stories converging at a point is the climax of this genera.

Starring Regina Cassandra, Sundeep Kishan, Sri, Munishkanth and Charlie in lead roles, the flick is directed by debutant Lokesh Kanakarajan. An urban thriller, Maanagaram focuses on these four characters.

It all starts with Shri, a youngster, who comes to the city with a dream of taking up a job in IT. Then there is Sundeep Kishan, who pretty much does not care about anything. He falls for Regina Cassandra and go to any length of getting her. Charlie is a cab driver, who is soft-spoken. He too comes to Chennai in order to make more money and support his son get better medical treatment.

Each has a unique story to spin and these characters get hyperlinked through a kidnap that goes wrong. Now how they de-tangle themselves from this plot forms the rest of the story.

For a debutant to handle a large story like this is worth praising. The film starts from the word go and keep the audience engage throughout. Although a pretty much fresh faced movie, it is worth the watch. Wacky one-liners and comedy element in the movie is a master stoke.

All the actors have done their part well. Sundeep Kishan mannerisms in the flick is worth mentioning. Shri is daring and righteous. Regina who is an experienced actor has proved her worth.

Bankrolled by Potential Studios, cinematography is by Selvakumar and music by Javed Riaz.

Camera angles and colours in the entire movie is bright and vivid. The background score and tracks in the flim has come out well.

Maanagaram is gripping from the beginning. With several twits and turns, the movie is sure to keep you glued to your seats.
