Nayanthara’s tough time in Malaysia

News spread thick and fast that actress Nayanthara was detained at an airport in Malaysia, where she had been to shoot for Irumugan, a movie opposite Vikram.

It was rumoured that the actress was held for allegedly possessing ‘Ice Drug’, which is a banned narcotic in the country that would invite a year’s imprisonment.

Few others said there were some goof-up in her visa that led to her detention. After having been at the airport for almost a couple of hours, she left to her hotel in Kuala Lumpur, it is said.

Meanwhile, a few sections of press claimed that it was part of the movie’s shoot as she plays an undercover agent investigating a case in Malaysia. Also it was claimed that it could be a publicity stunt by the crew of Irumugan.

However enquires revealed that Nayanthara had missed out on her work order and hence she was made to wait untill it arrived.

And sources close to her categorically denied any other reports surfacing in various sections of the press.

Later in the evening the ‘Iru Mugan’ team released a press note as follows…

“False and baseless aligation about Nayanthara at Malaysian airport was clarified by “Irumughan team”

Work permit rules in Malaysia are different in the two terminals, usually travellers to India travel through KL1. But the new airline ( Malindo) operates from KL2. There the immigration officials had few clarification on work permit and it’s visa stamping for her supporting team. Later Nayanthara herself spoke to the authorities and cleared and the whole team travelled back to India smoothly.

The production team and line producers has also lodged a complaint with the immigration dept for snaps of Nayanthara n her passport copy getting circulated online as well as the online media in Malaysia, who had created this false news.”
