Kathakali - Review

15 Jan 2016

A murder mystry with water-tight script is rare in Tamil cinema. And after a children-film in Pasanga 2, filmmaker Pandiraj comes up with Kathakali. An engaging and entertaining watch all through. Three cheers to the filmmaker who with a less star cast with running time of less than two hours makes it an serious watch. Watch out from Vishal's stellar performance, who is bold and brave. He is awesome and his serious looks add value to the story.Catherine Teresa is cute and she carries the role in his shoulders with ease and elegance. The movie also stars Mime Gopi, Madhusudhanan, Nasser and Sreejith Ravi among others. Music is by hip Hop Adhi and camera by Balasubramaniam is superb and splendid. There are just two numbers and the background score add fillip to the film. An intense action drama with more cerebral stuff. The movie features Amuthan (Vishal) who comes all the way from America to Cuddalore to get married to Meenu Kutty (Catherine Tresa). His family are in loggerheads with the local gangster Thamba (Madhusudhanan) and when he gets murdered, his wife, blame falls on Amuthan and his brother( Mime Gopi). The rest is about how Amuthan proves that he is not the culprit and breaks the murder. Vishal and Catherine Teresa are adequate. Mime Gopi does a good show and Sreejith as cop is super. Kathakali is a director's film that is engaging. Call it an intense drama that deserves a watch. Kathakali - Experience the thrill
