Production - Y Not Studios, Thirukumaran Entertainment, U Tv Motion Pictures Direction - Sudha Kongara Music - Santhosh Narayanan Cast - Madhavan, Ritika Singh, Nasser and others A boxing drama that narrates the story of underdog. The travails and tribulations of a young woman, who takes up the sport and a no-nonsense coach who wants to achieve big through his protege make up the movie. Young woman filmmaker Sudha Kongara touches upon the ego war and politics in the sports body with conviction and clarity. Irudhi Suttru is the best from Madhavan so far. From a chocolate boy to a gritty coach, the movie showcases the other side of Madhavan. A loud-mouthed slum girl newcomer Ritika Singh plays an aspiring boxer. She is the scene-stealer who pours out anger, agony and frustration in right mix. Her innocent portrayal makes one instantly connect with her character. And Madhavan proves why he is an admired and adored actor. He carries the weight in his shoulders with ease and with his rugged looks delivers it with aplomb. More on the relationship, grit and determination and less on game, Irudhi suttru makes an engaging watch. It is about Madhi (Ritika) a rustic and innocent girl outside the ring, but flexes power of a champion when the gloves are on. It is a discovery that drives disgraced coach Adi (Madhavan) into finding purpose in his life. He wants his student to win him the sporting glory that had once eluded him. How he achieves the same with The journey to the top is laden with twists and tricks. Music by Santosh Narayanan is apt for theme, while Sivakumar Vijayan captures Chennai slums in nice colours. The shores of Marina, huge cut-outs and posters of Dhanush, banners and festoons with misspellings try create a Chennai flavour. Produced by Y NOT Studios and Thirukumaran Entertainments, in association with U Tv, the movie manages to engage you. Irudhi Suttru - Maddy all the way.
