Aranmanai 2 - Review
30 Jan 2016
If 'Aranamanai' was an entertainer which intertwined a ghost story and comedy, the sequel ('Aranmanai 2') made by Sundar C, treads a similar path.
Featuring Siddharth, Trisha and Hansika in key roles, 'Aranamanai 2' is packaged with commercial elements like glamour, slapstick comedy and thrills.
The story goes like this: Koviloor village is gearing up for consecration of the Amman temple during which the goddess will be powerless. Using the situation, a group of selfish exorcists undertake a pooja to bring evil spirits under their control. And a powerful ghost Maya (Hansika) emerges from the grave and enters the zamindar's (Radha Ravi) palace and sends him into coma.
When the Zamindar's family conveys the information to his son Murali (Siddharth) and his fiance Anitha (Trisha), who are holidaying in Bangkok, they immediately fly down to the palace and begin to experience paranormal activities. Meanwhile, Anitha's brother Ravi (Sundar C) finds the reason behind Maya's vengeance towards Zamindar’s family. What happens then forms the rest.
Sundar C is known for his comedy-based movies and ventured to the horror genre with 'Aranmanai' and came up trumps. The director's regulars like Kovai Sarala and Manobala do their bit.
Siddharth breezes through his role while Sundar has an important part to play. Hansika steals the show with a powerful performance, following up with the one in 'Aranmanai'.
U K Senthil Kumar's camera work plays a big part in the movie while 'Hip Hop Tamizha' Aadhi's music fits the bill.
