Visaranai - Review
05 Feb 2016
Vetrimaran proved his worth as an intense filmmaker with movies like Polladhavan and Aadukalam.
And when he took his time to come up with his next, the expectations went sky high.
Even before his third venture Visaranai could hit the screens, it made enough impact in vaious film festivals garnering all limelight.
The movie is a harsh reality check on the police system and the way the officials in the department operates. What happens when innocent fall in the net of cops is what the movie harps on.
The film, which produced by Dhanush and Vetrimaaran, features Attakathi Dinesh, Murugadoss, Samuthirakani, Kishore, Anandi and Ajay Ghosh in the cast.
It is based on the novel penned 'Lock Up' penned by Chandra Kumar and the events unfold close to reality.
A quartet that includes Dinesh and Murugadoss are detained by Andhra police in Guntur and they are ruthlessly beaten for a crime they had not committed. However enters a police officer (Samuthirakani) from Tamilnadu. He wishes to help them rescue but gets a promise to kidnap an accused from judicial custody. There begins all woes. What happens then forms the crux.
Visaranai brings to light the agony and pain of 'victims', who are not suspects but made to suffer torture of police.
Vetrimaran has captured them close to reality and there are dialogues that are raw and real.
The film ends with a spine-chilling climax.
Dinesh and Anandi lives their roles. They are flawless and pour right emotions. Murugadoss has proved his versatility.
Music is by G V Prakash and cinematography by S Ramalingam.
For those who love international cinema Visaranai is here.
Super show by Vetrimaran and a proud moment for Tamil cinema.
