Wagah Movie Review

12 Aug 2016

Wagah comes at a time when the Nation is all set to celebrate it Independence day. Centered around soldiers , the movie tries to talk about the courage of the jawans, but sadly loses steam as it begins and ends nowhere. Starring Vikram Prabhu and Ranya Raa in the lead, the movie is directed by G N R Kumaravel. D Imman has composed the tunes. Vasu (Vikaram Prabhu) is a small guy with larger that life dreams. He hails from a small village. Change has him join the armed forces and he is posted as a BSF jawan in Wagah. He falls for Kanoam (but Vasu calls her Kajal, essayed by debutant Ranya Rao). She is a Pakistani girl who gets caught in a clash in Kashmir, while visiting her parents. Vasu helps her home by taking her across the border. In the process Vasu is captured by the Pakistan army. Razzak Ali Khan (Shaji Choudhary) heads a border camp inside Pakistan. Vasu is humiliated and tortured. How he gets out and avenges him forms the rest of the story. Filmed most in Kashmir, Wagah brings out the beauty of the Himalaya region. Though it has a good storyline, the movie has a weak script that has not gone so well. Produced by M Balavishwaanathan, it has Tulasi, Karunaas and Ajay Rathnam play key roles. The movie is visually rich. Imman has done a good job on the sound tracks and back ground score. Eventually the movie ends up as an amateurish attempt that lacks fizz and the end product is far from convincing.
