Saithan - Review
03 Dec 2016
Jayalakshmiiiiiiii ! This is one word that throws a question to the onlookers from the start in Vijay Antony's latest release Saithan.
The composer turned actor is known for selecting scripts with care and this time too he has proved his worth.
The film has Meera Krishnan, YG Mahendra, Siddhartha Shankar, Kamal Krishna, Charuhasan, and others are in the cast. Debutant Arundhati Nair from Kerala play the female lead. Saithan is directed by Pradeep Krishnamoorthy.
A psychological thriller, the movie is about Dinesh (Vijay Anthony) who is a successful computer professional. He is a specialised trouble-shooter and his firm's boss trusts him with complex works.
Dinesh plans of settling down. He marries a simple girl Aiswarya (Arundhati Nayar). Just as things get better Dinesh starts hearing another person’s voice in his head. Things get worse and he seeks the help of a therapist. What happens after this forms the rest of the story.
With lots of puzzling twists and turns the movie is an interesting watch and has lots to offer for viewers.
As an actor, Vijay Antony's performance in the movie is par excellence. He has proved that he one of the bankable actor and has done his role with ease.
Vijay Antony himself has composed the music and few songs, including the theme track, already drew attention before the movie's release. Jayalakshmi theme music is one of the best in the list. Backgroud score is also worth mentioning.
Arundhati Nair is absolute stunner in the movie. She fits the bill well. After a long time, Tamil cinema gets to welcome a heroine who can emote. She is certain to join the league of Saritha, Shoba, Revathy and Suhasini.
She pours out fear, anger, agony and frustration well. And whatmore she looks comfortable on screen too.
Pradeep Krishnamoorthy who has written and directed the flick. His engaging screenplay has managed to grip the audience till the end. What starts as a rocking start turns nail biting.
Some of the key highlights of the movie is Pradeep Kalipurayath's cinematography. Camera angles are very essential to express thrills and horror. This is one of the success to this movie. Another interesting aspect to the film is its editing by Veera Senthil Raj. The movie is crisp and to the point. This makes it more engaging.
Saithan is a unique attempt at such a genera and is a good psychological thriller that is sure to succeed as a commercial cinema too for all class audience.
