After two years in the making, Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (AYM) finally hit the screens. Recreating the magic of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is Simbu and director Gautham Vasudev Menon.
Starring Simbu and Manjima Mohan in the lead AYM was in the making for over two years. Music is by AR Rahman. Bollywood actor Bobby Sehgal plays the baddie. Daniel Balaji and Sathish Krishnan play key characters.
Althoug a love story, the movie lays emphaises more on romance and action. Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is about two people, Simbu and Manjima falling in love and emerging successful in their relationship.
Simbu falls in loved with and his sister’s friend Leela (Manjima Mohan). She stays in his house to pursue her career in direction.
The two plan on a bike trip from Vizag to Kanyakumari all of a sudden. What starts to be a cute little journey turns violent. The whole story takes a turns from interval, where they are chased
down.
Laced with narratives and songs, the first half is breezy and light. The second half is filled with action and thriller, but lacks some places. The climax twist is unexpected.
Unlike a Simbu, Gautham flick, the one has lots of action. Simbu has done his character well. He can emote love, action and anger.
Manjima who is making her entry into Kollywood has acted well. Her character is strong and stays through the entire movie. Her chemistry with Simbu is also good and their intimacy level is seen increasing.
Dialogues and screenplay by Gautham is a catch point for the flick. A R Rahman is another feather to the cap. His music and background score is very catchy, that is set for a road trip.
Camera by Dan Macarthur is a visual treat. Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is a complete road show that is breezy, musical and racy.
