Miruthan - Review

For those who love watching Zombie movies, here is the Indian version. Miruthan, the first attempt at this genre is not all that bad. But it still takes time to settle down in this avatar. Starring Jayam Ravi and Lakshmi Menon in the lead, the movie promises nothing less of violence, in this case being bitten. Directed by Sakthi Soundararajan, the plot of the movie is pretty simple. A deadly virus makes an outbreak. It is transferred from human to human. And those affected by it become brutal killers. Jayam Ravi is among the many who fights it. Although a western idea, the movie has much local flavour. Much effort has been put into the making and creating of the characters. Make-up is upto the mark and believable. Execution has been a success to an extent, but logical loopholes do pop up here and there. Set in Ooty and Coimbatore, Karthik (Jayam Ravi), is a traffic policeman. His life is his sister (Anikha). He comes across Renu (Lakshmi Menon), a doctor and falls for her. But fate has other plans. Meanwhile the deadly virus makes its presence in the city and Jayam Ravi is forced to set things right as his sister gets affected. The movie also has RNR Manohar, Kali Venkat, Sriman and Anikha Surendran in key roles. A beefed up Jayam Ravi suits the role well. Loaded with action and little romance, Imman's BGM has taken the movie a step up. Lakshmi Menon has pulled off her role pretty well. Venkatesh camera and Venkataraman's editing makes it watchable. Produced by Seraphin Raya Xavier, Miruthan falls into a category that will be a crowd puller. Miruthan - Taste for blood
