Jil Jung Juk - Review
12 Feb 2016
Welcome to the list of promising filmmakers who made a sparling debut in Kollywood is Deeraj Vaidy. Jil Jung Juk by him is a wierd movie with cute characterisation, enough twists and turns and loaded with dark comedy all through. Reminding one of Hollywood classics made in 1960s, the film has everything and anything a Young audience would want to see in a film. A fantasy film set in 2020 it has limited characters and a no heroine. But No crass comedy or emotional tearjerker, but enough in them to engage your watch. Jil Jung Juk has no story and it just the way events unfolds in the lives of three youngsters who set out on a car journey. The writing holds the key as each character in the film has some unique characteristics The movie is about Nanjil Sivaji (Siddharth), Jangulingam (Avinash Raghudevan) and Jaguar Jakan (Sanandh). The trio faces enough challenges and how they set out to achieve it forms the crux. There is a dreaded don Deivanayakam (Amarendhran). And he is fighting against Rolex Rowther (Radharavi). There is a scientist (Bhagavathy) and Deiva's aide Pai (Bipin) and they add to the confusion. The high point of the movie is cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna's camera that captures barren lands well while Vishal Chandrasekhar's catchy BGM is splendid. If Siddharth is the flesh and blood of the movie, Avinash and Sanandh does chip in well. Radharavi is splendid. There are few sequences which may not be understood for common audience and few double meaning dialogues. But still it is engaging and entertaining. Jil Jung Juk - Novel idea
