Life is all about tradition and culture in this part of the country. But when it survival is threatened, there all hell breaks loose. This has inspired Thangam Saravanan to come out with a movie titled Anjala. The movie in a nutshell speaks about about a simple tea shop in a village that is century-old and when government decides to raze it down, their begins all troubles. Produced by stunt master Dilip Subbarayan, the movie stars Vemal, Nandhitha, Aadukalam Naren, R V Uthayakumar and Ritika in important roles. Music is by Gopi Sundar and cinematography by Ravi Kannan. Muthirulandi (Pasupathy), who fights hard to keep his century-old tea shop from being razed down. The place is the sanctuary for all people including Vemal, his friends and others. There are plots and sibnplots involving people who visit the tea stall. Interestingly a sweet little romance develops between Vemal and Nandita. Eventually what happens to the tea stall make up the movie. Pasupathy does his best. He is cool and casual. Vemal plays his second fiddle well. Nandita is dazzling. Imman Annachi as Jogging Chellapa and Aadukalam Murugadoss as Kalyana Raman have done well. Anjala has a moving story, but ends up a curate's egg and ends nowhere.
