Kuttrame Thandanai Review

04 Sep 2016
After a feel-good tale of slum children in Kaaka Muttai that won accolades in internatinal film circuits and did well at the box-office too, cinematograpoher-director Manikandan's next Kuttramae Thandanai is out. Strikingly different from his earlier venture, it is a taut thriller loaded with emotions. Starring Vidharth, Pooja Devariya, Aishwarya Rajhesh and Nasser in key roles, it is neatly executed with a complex message conveyed in a simple way. Vidharth after Myna get an opportunity to prove his acting skills, while Rahman dazzles as a perplexed rich man caught in a tangle. Aishwarya and Pooja Devariya get little screen space but do full justice to their roles. The movie revolves around Ravi (Vidharth), who works as collection agent. Money is his immediate need. And doctors suggest an eye transplant for his tunnel vision for which he needs a huge sum. Meanwhile, he comes across the murder of his neighbour (Aishwarya Rajesh). Coming to know that two persons including her boss Vijay Prakash (Rahman) may be the reason, he uses the opportunoity to make some money from them. This leads to a chain of unexpected turns in his life. Manikandan's gripping narration of events coupled with Ilayaraja's background score makes it a good watch. Kuttramae Thandanai has technical brilliance too. Manikandan's lens capture events in a soft tone while Balaji Gopal's colour schemes add weight to the story. In short, Kuttramae Thandanai is a crisp and clean entertainer for film buffs.
