Why a craze for period films in Tamil cinema ?

Suseenthiran who kick-started his next Maaveeran Kittu says the movie will be a period film. it has Vishnu Vishal, Sri Divya and Parthiban doing key roles.
Says Suseenthiran, 'Maaveeran Kittu is based on a true story. It is about a warrior who fought for the people’s rights in 1985.'
The movie will be produced by Nallusamy Pictures and Asian Cine Combines, D Imman is scoring the music for the film.
The first schedule of Maaveeran Kittu will be held in Palani, Dindigul and Kodaikkanal.
Retro sets has been erected especially for this film and the movie is said to be a big budgeted one.
Cinematography is by Suriya. Screenplay is by Suseendhiran himself.
